Veteran AIDS Activist Kenneth Cole Uses Fashion Week to Raise Funds and Awareness

February 7, 2013

Renowned fashion designer Kenneth Cole will rely on Fashion Week publicity to generate money and awareness for AIDS research. Cole intends to donate funds raised from sales of two new designs to the American Foundation for AIDS Research (amfAR). Cole will debut one of these products at his February 7 fashion show. The designer collaborated with "Sex and the City" star Sarah Jessica Parker to create a handbag that includes a condom inside and features the inscription "We're All Potential Carriers." The bag will retail for $1,000; Cole plans to sell 20 of them at the show, donating 100 percent of the proceeds to amfAR. Cole has also released a limited edition watch through a licensing partner, the Geneva Watch Group. Sales of the watch will provide at least $25,000 to amfAR as well.
