Prevention/Epidemiology Michigan Awards Nearly $2.5 Million for HIV PreventionFebruary 7, 2013 Michigan's Health Department is giving close to $2.5 million to 16 of the state's community-based and non-governmental groups for HIV prevention services such as testing, education, treatment, and counseling. Department Spokesperson Angela Minicuci told WWJ Newsradio 950 that HIV is still disproportionately affecting African Americans, especially young adults and men who have sex with men. Minicuci added, "... we want to see the disproportionate numbers go down." The grant money is being awarded through 2016.
