Help Us Tell CVS #WeWantFC2 Female Condoms
January 14, 2013
The Washington, D.C. Female Condom Initiative has been working tirelessly over the last three years to educate both consumers and providers about the benefits of the female condom. CVS/Pharmacy signed on at the very beginning of this initiative, and agreed to stock female condoms in all of their stores in Washington, D.C. Sadly, this has not happened. On numerous occasions people have asked why CVS/Pharmacy is not carrying female condoms and unfortunately, we have no definitive answer. We have reached out to CVS/Pharmacy on multiple occasions and have had little luck getting them to address why they do not carry female condoms. We know women and men want female condoms and we know female condoms save lives. What better reason is there?
Starting on Tuesday, January 15, 2013, please join us as we begin a Twitter activism campaign directed at CVS stores. Every time you enter a CVS/Pharmacy in Washington, D.C. and they do not have female condoms on their shelves, tweet at CVS/Pharmacy (@CVS_Extra) to let them know we want them to sell female condoms! We have over 50 youth -- all dedicated female condom advocates and educators -- who will take the lead in this effort. We are asking you to join us. There is a flyer here for you to print and distribute to your youth and staff. Included are sample tweets, our hashtag, and twitter handles. Please forward this email to your network. You can also like us on Facebook at D.C.'s Doin' It! With the New FC2 Female Condom to stay updated on our Twitter activism efforts.
Our New Year's resolution is to get CVS/Pharmacy to finally begin taking our requests for female condoms seriously. We hope you will join us in our efforts.
