International News Bahamas Red Cross Take to the Streets, With Eleutheran "Peer Educators"January 14, 2013 Members of the Bahamas Red Cross and a team of Eleutheran "peer educators" spent the afternoon of January 11 visiting businesses along the streets of Governor's Harbour, handing out educational pamphlets on HIV/AIDS prevention and care as well as condoms. The visit to businesses served as the ending to a two-day educational training on HIV/AIDS and its prevention, held with Red Cross representatives and facilitated by members of the Caribbean HIV/AIDS Project. Twenty-two youth participated in the workshop, which targeted young adults 18 to 30 years of age, from all backgrounds. Project coordinator John Darville states that this project will continue into 2014, with at least three additional workshops scheduled to be held in the north and south districts for the same purpose of educating young adults to share HIV/AIDS information with their peers.
