U.S. News Iowa: Siouxland AIDS Coalition ReconfiguresJanuary 7, 2013 Volunteers, local agencies, and community leaders recently met with representatives of the Siouxland Community Health Center to reorganize and revitalize the work of the Siouxland AIDS Coalition. According to Elisabeth Giles, the center's spokesperson, local activists refocused their efforts to address the ongoing stigma surrounding HIV and the continuing lack of awareness among community members regarding their risk of HIV infection. The coalition aims to build HIV awareness in the community and to increase HIV testing, prevention, and treatment resources in Siouxland. The Siouxland AIDS Coalition will meet quarterly to share information about programs and legislation and to coordinate activities.
