International News United Kingdom: Soho Sexual Health Clinic Breaks HIV Testing RecordDecember 3, 2012 To mark World AIDS Day, a central London clinic has broken its own HIV testing world record. Medics from the Chelsea and Westminster HIV and Sexual Health Clinic in Soho tested a total of 745 individuals in eight hours on December 1, in comparison to the 467 that were tested last year. The clinic provided walk-in testing with 60-second results. Those who tested positive are having confirmatory tests and will return to see a doctor during the week. Chelsea and Westminster Hospital's Dr. Alan McOwen, who oversaw the event, said that finding out early could add as much as 16 years to life expectancy. He also noted that 80 percent of those who are diagnosed with HIV have gotten it from someone who didn't know themselves that they had it.
