Housing Works Activists Travel to Boca Raton to Put HIV/AIDS on the Electoral Issues MapOctober 23, 2012
The activists began their day very early yesterday, attending the filming of two influential shows, "Morning Joe" and "Way Too Early," where they met MSNBC host Mike Barnicle, NBC news correspondent Andrea Mitchell, and former Congressman Harold Ford Jr. In fact, after speaking with C2EA activists and the needs of people living with HIV/AIDS, Ford Jr. signed the AIDS Vote petition that would make HIV/AIDS a top-priority for the next President and his Administration. (You can see a photo of Ford Jr. on our Facebook page!). After their early "Morning Joe," the activists continued their message that "HIV/AIDS is an election issue" by walking the streets of Boca Raton, carrying signs reading, "Our next President must commit to Getting to Zero New HIV Infections" and wearing t-shirts that read, "I have HIV." Housing Works and C2EA were joined by activists from the Condomize! campaign and a number of women's rights groups. Although the Presidential debates are over and we are officially two weeks away from the election -- nay, THE ELECTION -- Housing Works, C2EA and other AIDS activists will continue to push for the country's leaders to take the steps to end AIDS in the country and around the world.
