Cecilia's Story: Transgender, Chinese Emigre Talks About HIV Stigma and Survival (Video)

Cecilia is a transgender woman, originally from China, who has been living with HIV for 18 years. A former substance abuser and survivor of assault, she shares the story of how stigma drove her away from her family -- and why reconciling with her mother is the reason she started HIV treatment.

Cecilia was also recently featured in a Poz magazine piece on women, trauma and HIV.

Since its founding in 2000, The Positive Project has collected more than 100 first-person stories told by people infected or affected by HIV/AIDS. These stories are used to reduce stigma, raise awareness, promote prevention, encourage testing and enhance care.
