Milton Hershey School Settles With "Abraham Smith"September 24, 2012 Pennsylvania's Milton Hershey School, which last year denied admission to "Abraham Smith," a 13-year-old straight-A student, solely because he is HIV-positive, announced September 13 it had settled the resulting lawsuit under the Americans with Disabilities Act. The young man, now 14, and his mother will receive $700,000 from the school. The school must also pay a $15,000 civil penalty and provide HIV training to students and staff.
