Washington, D.C. -- The ADAP Advocacy Association, also known as aaa+®, announced that it will host its 5th Annual Conference on August 19-21, 2012. The conference -- held in partnership with the Community Access National Network (CANN) and Housing Works -- is being themed the "AIDS Drug Assistance Program Crisis: "STAMP" Out ADAP Waiting Lists!" It is being held at the Westin Washington DC City Center, located at 1400 M Street, NW, Washington, DC 20005.
"Our annual conference this year will build on the meaningful, results-driven dialogue that the organization has been spearheading over the last several months," said Brandon M. Macsata, CEO of the ADAP Advocacy Association. "The conference has traditionally focused on the importance of the federal government renewing its commitment to the AIDS Drug Assistance Program; while that issue will remain a focal point, we'll be hosting a litany of discussions on other national public-private strategies that will help to alleviate the ongoing ADAP waiting list crisis."
The conference will provide the platform for follow-up discussions on the ADAP Solutions Summit's Final Report, as well as the first opportunity to assemble HIV/AIDS stakeholders after the International AIDS Conference convenes the prior month. It will also showcase the 2nd Annual ADAP Leadership Awards Dinner on Monday, August 20th at 7:00 pm.
aaa+® will also "poll" is vast national network of ADAP stakeholders using social media networks to identify breakout session topics, and potential speakers. Said Robert Breining, aaa+® board member & Founder of the POZIAM.com social network, "Social media is increasingly playing an important role in the educational and activism efforts in the HIV/AIDS community, and we're excited to continue our efforts to harness the power of this growing medium."
