Dear HIV, In 1999 you came into my life and knocked me off the top of my game. You have never let me recover. You have never let me forget. You brought to light my insecurities and my shortcomings. You have forced me to put up emotional barriers between me and others. You made me lose faith in God and Humanity. You make me feel like I do not deserve to be loved. You make me afraid to live, to trust, to forgive, to become whole. You have changed my Body, Mind, and Soul. Whenever I feel I have gotten you under control, you introduce the next round of physical/emotional/financial hell. It is a miracle I am still here. But. I AM STILL HERE. You have not won.
