New York: Celebrating 30 Years of AIDS Activism

Gay Men's Health Crisis, the nation's oldest AIDS service organization, marked its 30th anniversary Wednesday night with a gala at Manhattan's Gotham Hall. The event honored the playwright Larry Kramer, who co-founded GMHC; Tim Sweeney, a former GMHC director; and the philanthropic Rudin family. "Thirty years is, in some ways, much older than it seems," said Marjorie Hill, CEO of GMHC, who added that medications have "revolutionized" the management of HIV/AIDS in the past 15 years.
