A Poem by JandJ

April 2012

Dear Friend

When I first met you, my dear father passed away. I did not know if to cry for his death or to cry for the new life I was going to live. You came into my life and didn't even ask me. I cried for days, weeks, month, a year today and I am still crying because of your arrival. With your arrival I learned to possess a new feeling I never knew I had in me. You brought with you a yearning to live that I never felt before. My dear friend, when you came into my life, my appreciation for people went much further than I ever thought it could reach. My view of life changed into a struggle to stay with a life. You brought sorrow, disgust, shame, but most of all you brought a new meaning of living into my life. You are now my friend and although I ask you why every day, you are still the one friend I have who is always with me. You are my one and true friend because you carry with me the burden of living with me.
