Spreading Knowledge: Four Women Report Back From HIV Conferences

There are so many HIV-related conferences, meetings and summits all year -- and the cost of registration and travel can be so steep -- that it's impossible for anyone to attend them all. If you haven't had many opportunities to attend HIV-related conferences, you might wonder just what happens at these gatherings.

Four women in our community wrote about their experiences at various conferences over the past year: a peer educator who attended a conference within her own city and community; a longtime treatment activist observing an overseas research meeting from the comfort of home; a health care provider who shares a panelist's view; and an advocate who'd planned the summit she also attended. Read on for a taste of what went on at a few of 2011's HIV conferences.
