New Jersey: Bridgeton, Vineland Mayors Sign HIV/AIDS Awareness Day Proclamations
March 9, 2012
Bridgeton Mayor Albert Kelly and Vineland Mayor Robert Romano this week signed a proclamation declaring March 10 as National Women and Girls HIV/AIDS Awareness Day in Bridgeton, Millville, and Vineland. The signing took place at the Alms Center in Bridgeton during a community awareness event hosted by FamCare Inc., together with the Office on Women's Health of the US Department of Health and Human Services. "The ultimate goal is to reduce the stigma associated with HIV/AIDS and increase the awareness of the impact of this health problem on our community, especially women and girls," FamCare said in a press release. OWH partnered with Greater Than AIDS for this year's outreach and is asking "What's your deciding moment?" -- everyday opportunities to take a stand against HIV by getting tested, using condoms, practicing abstinence, and talking with others about the disease.
