The Rev. Todd A. Brown currently serves as Pastor of First Baptist Church of Chesterbrook in McLean, Va. He is also a consultant in the field of HIV/AIDS as he works closely with the faith community to establish HIV prevention education ministries that can serve the congregation and community at large. He is the founder of Partnerships for Hope, a program he developed to assist churches in heightening awareness around HIV by establishing sound HIV/AIDS ministries.
Brown has served as the Director of Education for the Northern Virginia AIDS Ministry, and presently serves on the Northern Virginia Clergy Council for the Prevention of HIV, as a member of the education team for its annual summit. In 2008, Brown received the HIV Prevention and Education Award from the Alexandria Commission on HIV/AIDS for his work with youth in Alexandria, and has served as a facilitator, trainer and workshop leader for HIV-related conferences and trainings, including the INOVA Faith-Based Conference formerly held in June of each year. Brown also serves as an Advisor on HIV/AIDS and the Faith Community for the Alexandria Health Department.
At the age of 20, under the leadership and tutelage of Dr. Robert Scott Jones, Brown accepted the Call to the Gospel Ministry, and continued to grow and nurture the gift of God through serving at St. Paul's Baptist Church in any way he could. While at St. Paul's Brown served as director and founder of St. Paul's youth mentoring program entitled "Radical for Christ: A Voice in Praise." Brown delivered his initial sermon and was licensed to preach the Gospel on June 14, 1998, and was ordained on June 18, 2006, by Dr. Robert Scott Jones.
Brown is a graduate of Johnson C. Smith University, where he graduated Cum Laude with a degree in communication arts in 1999. While at Johnson C. Smith, Brown served as the assistant to the University Chaplain. Brown is also a graduate of Howard University School of Divinity, where he received his Masters of Divinity Degree with a focus in preaching, teaching and administration.
