Women with HIV or at high risk of infection can safely continue using hormonal contraceptives, the World Health Organization said Thursday. A study published last year found that using contraceptive injections doubled a woman's risk of contracting HIV and transmitting it to a male partner. WHO confirmed its recommendations after reviewing possible links between the products and HIV. Women and their partners also should use condoms to prevent HIV infection, WHO said.
