Illinois: Brothers OUTLive Present -- Bayard Centennial Honoring Black AIDS Day

February 8, 2012

Two days after National Black HIV/AIDS Awareness Day, the Chicago creative collaboration Brothers OUTLive will present an event honoring the legacy of Bayard Rustin, the gay civil rights leader who served as the main organizer of the 1963 March on Washington. The evening will both highlight the diverse communities served by the Center on Halsted, the site of the celebration, and call attention to the HIV/AIDS epidemic's impact on black men who have sex with men. The commemoration will be held 6:30-8:30 p.m. Thursday in the Hoover-Leppen Theatre at the Center, 3656 N. Halsted St.
