U.S. News Research Roundup: From "Association Between HIV-Related Risk Behaviors and HIV Testing Among High School Students in the United States, 2009"January 6, 2012 "Adolescents' sexual and drug use can put them at risk of the HIV/AIDS and the age group is estimated to comprise about a tenth of the undiagnosed cases in the U.S.. The researchers analyzed data from the 2009 national Youth Risk Behavior Survey and found that "students with known additional risk factors were more likely to have been tested for HIV. However, most students, including those at higher risk for HIV, had not been tested. These findings suggest that current testing practices are falling short of making HIV testing a normal part of medical care for sexually active adolescents."
