International News Sri Lanka Marks World AIDS Day With Walking ActivityDecember 13, 2011 Hundreds of people -- including public health officials, students and activists -- marked World AIDS Day by taking part in an awareness walk in the capital, Colombo. In addition, UN staffers held a seminar on HIV discrimination in the workplace, and non-governmental organizations took part in an educational symposium on HIV/AIDS. The government estimates 3,000 residents are living with HIV; advocates believe the actual figure is significantly higher.
