Introduction

A year can seem like a long time. When our planet was last where it is now relative to the sun, the spewing remnants of the BP Deepwater Horizon rig had just been capped, mid-term elections handed the GOP the keys to the House, and a new-fangled device called the iPad had been in stores for only a few months. In our smaller orbit of HIV-related news, it can be hard to appreciate where we were just a year ago.
