Richard Cordova III

Richard Cordova

Richard is the director of athletic events at Test Positive Aware Network (TPAN), a transformational speaker, a spin instructor, and a host for Gay Chicago TV. He has worked as a Health Educator on the State of Illinois HIV/AIDS and STD Hotline, and is a certified HIV test counselor. In addition to moderating the Safe Sex and HIV Prevention forum here on, Richard also authors a blog called Positive Indeed. His blog focuses on finding the silver lining in every cloud, even when it's the hardest thing to do.

In his role at TPAN, Richard produces the Ride for AIDS Chicago (RFAC), an annual event which raised over $525,000 in 2011 alone. Proceeds from the event help fund HIV/AIDS support services in Chicago.

As a transformational speaker, Richard shares his personal experiences to affect change in the world around him. Igniting the passion within people, he coaches them to have transformative experiences, helping them become their best selves.

As the host of Gay Chicago TV's channel, Outreach, Richard covers the amazing work that is happening in the nonprofit world in the city of Chicago. More important, this channel covers the ways that viewers can become involved, because Richard believes that by working together, we are stronger advocates for the change we want to see in our community.

As a spin instructor, Richard helps coach people to new heights physically by pushing people farther than they thought they ever could go. He has been a spin instructor for over four years. He teaches six classes a week at a local gym.

Richard has been living with HIV for over nine years, and is by government standards, in fact, living with AIDS. Since his diagnosis, he has run seven marathons, with a personal best time of 3:28, completed six 2-day 200-mile bike rides, three half-marathons, and a triathlon.
