Print-FriendlyCDC has awarded the Washington-based AIDS service organization Us Helping Us a five-year, $1.5 million grant to expand its HIV prevention services for black men, ages 18-29, who have sex with men. UHU will use the funds to provide HIV testing and counseling through two CDC-approved programs -- "Healthy Relationships Intervention" and "Mpowerment Intervention" -- shown to reduce high-risk behavior among MSM. "Recent data show that young black gay and same-gender loving men have a particularly high and increasing risk of HIV infection," said UHU CEO and President Ron Simmons. "We view this project as a great responsibility that can be a significant factor in reducing HIV infection in our community."
