Southern Women HIV/AIDS Leaders Speak Back to Their Communities

 3/8

Marcia Dorsey

Marcia Dorsey, Lafayette, La.; Diagnosed in 1996

I am a woman and mom who is engaged to my soulmate, who was diagnosed with the HIV virus this past August. He is positive and myself and our five year old daughter are negative. I love him and he me. But how can i deal with the matter that he doesn't know how or who infected him. I make sure to use condoms when we are intimate with each other. How am I suppose to deal with all of this. What happens if the condom ever breaks. Will I to become infected and leave my daughter to be a orphan. Please help me I am at a impass right now. What can I do to protect myself and to be here for her and for him??????
