Today Marks 4th Annual National Gay Men's HIV/AIDS Awareness Day

The National Minority AIDS Council used Tuesday's designation as National Gay Men's HIV/AIDS Awareness Day to stress the importance of HIV testing, while CDC offered additional support for prevention. CDC announced $55 million in funding to expand community-led HIV prevention services for young gay and bisexual men of color, young transgender persons of color, and their partners. The award represents a $10 million increase and will fund a larger number of groups. NMAC Deputy Executive Director Daniel C. Montoya said the organization "is proud to stand with the entire HIV/AIDS community in marking NGMHAAD. As a gay man living with HIV myself, I know that we will never be able to get this epidemic under control if we don't also address the persistent and disproportionate impact it has had and continues to have on the gay community."
