You Are Invited! The Inaugural HIV Prevention Justice Leadership Assembly!

The U.S. Conference on AIDS (USCA) will be held in Chicago, IL from November 10-14, 2011.

On November 9, we invite you to gather for a 1/2 day of lunch, panels, seminars and a networking reception to elevate our individual and collective skills and strategies to win HIV Prevention Justice in a time of many challenges:

Working Schedule for the HIV Prevention Justice Leadership Assembly

11 am - 12 pm: Registration/Meet and Greet.

12 - 1 pm: Bridge it to Win it: Luncheon with panel of local and national leaders in human rights, racial justice, economic justice, and HIV prevention justice on active collaboration across our struggles.

1 - 4 pm: Choose from two strategy sessions and be prepared to work actively with other dedicated leaders around the country to plan our next steps for HIV prevention justice:

Prevention Justice in Words and Deeds: Communication Skills and Mobilization Strategies for our Movement

This session will include:

• clear ways to communicate about human rights, economic justice and HIV prevention justice;
• communication strategies for elevating HIV prevention justice in our communities, organizations and the media
• crafting and using powerful, inspiring messages to bring HIV prevention justice to our individual interactions and organizational efforts, all the way to negotiations with political targets and the mass media
• from planning to action to follow up, using meetings and mobilizations to amplify more voices, build new leadership and win concrete victories for HIV prevention justice

Countdown AIDS 2012: Policy and Advocacy Plans for HIV Prevention Justice From Now Through the Presidential Election

This session will include:

• discussion of key opportunities and challenges in the next year and a half of the HIV prevention justice movement in the United States, including changing HIV/AIDS funding, health care reform, AIDS 2012 and the presidential election
• development of strategies to link campaigns on key drivers of HIV in the United States (including mass imprisonment, LGBTQ rights and liberation, and economic justice)
• preparation of working plans for our policy and advocacy agenda, and framing out what we'll need to make it all happen

4 - 5 pm: Networking Reception/Meet and Greet: As HIV prevention justice leaders from around the country come into town, stop by to connect names to emails, meet old comrades, make new allies and sign up for affinity sessions to continue our planning in the days ahead.
