New Jersey: HIV Assistance Agencies Will Share $3.7 Million Grant

Rep. Bill Pascrell Jr. (D-Paterson), announced on Aug. 11 that 16 Passaic and Bergen county AIDS service organizations will share $3.7 million in funds from the Ryan White CARE Act.

"If you don't treat AIDS cases, it spreads," Pascrell told a dozen people at the Well of Hope, a Paterson nonprofit that offers needle exchange and other services. The funding is welcome news for the agency, whose office has been burglarized three times in the past two months.

The other organizations that will share the grant are Bergen Family Center, Hackensack; Buddies of New Jersey, Hackensack; City of Passaic/Passaic Alliance; Coalition of AIDS in Passaic County, Paterson; Good Shepherd/Friends for Life, Oradell; Hackensack University Medical Center; Hispanic Multi-Purpose Center, Paterson; Hyacinth AIDS Foundation, Paterson; Northeast Legal Services, Paterson; Northeast Life Skills Associates, Passaic; Paterson Counseling Center; Paterson Division of Health; St. Joseph's Regional Medical Center, Paterson; St. Mary's Hospital, Paterson; and Straight & Narrow Inc., Paterson.
