U.S. News California: Raising Awareness for Hepatitis CAugust 5, 2011 Local activists marked World Hepatitis Day on July 28 with an outreach event in the Castro district's Harvey Milk Plaza. An estimated 12,000 San Franciscans are believed to have hepatitis C, and most do not know they are infected. The San Francisco Hepatitis C Task Force has released a report outlining a series of steps it calls for the mayor and Board of Supervisors to take in response to the epidemic.
