California: San Francisco AIDS Walk Approaches

July 13, 2011

Sunday, July 17, is the date for the 25th AIDS Walk San Francisco, which benefits the San Francisco AIDS Foundation and dozens of other Bay Area nonprofits. The 10-kilometer walk begins and ends in Golden Gate Park's Sharon Meadow; opening ceremonies are at 9:45 a.m., and the walk steps off at 10:30 a.m. No minimum donation is required to participate, and walkers can sign up on site. SFAF said the fee paid to walk producer MZA Events, $185,000, is the same as last year. The 2010 walk took in $3 million. Since 1987, the event has raised more than $76 million for HIV prevention, testing, and care. For registration information, visit www.aidswalk.net/sanfran.
