International News AIDS-Hit Swaziland Sees Reason for HopeJune 16, 2011 Swaziland's HIV prevalence rate is the world's highest, more than one-quarter of residents ages 15 to 49 are believed to carry the virus, but an activist there sees some rays of hope. Sipho Dlamini, programs director for the Swaziland National Network of People Living with HIV and AIDS, on Wednesday pointed to signs of progress in the government's latest population projections. Government statisticians estimate that the nation's life expectancy will rise to 47 years by 2030, up from 45 in 2007. The rate of infant mortality is expected to decline from 100 deaths for every 1,000 live births in 2007 to about 92 per 1,000 in 2030.
