Monica Gandhi, M.D., M.P.H.

Monica Gandhi, M.D., M.P.H.

Dr. Gandhi is an associate professor of medicine in the Division of HIV/AIDS at the University of California, San Francisco (UCSF). Dr. Gandhi's clinical and research career has been focused mainly in HIV-infected women. Besides directing the inpatient HIV Consult Service at San Francisco General Hospital (SFGH), she serves as an HIV and primary care provider in the Women's HIV Clinic at SFGH's Ward 86 clinic. Her research efforts have focused on HIV/AIDS in U.S. women through the multicenter prospective Women's Interagency HIV Study (WIHS), for which serves as the associate principal investigator of the Northern California site.

Dr. Gandhi has co-authored studies published in AIDS, AIDS Care, the American Journal of Public Health, the Annals of Internal Medicine and Clinical Infectious Diseases. Dr. Gandhi has also presented research at several major HIV conferences.

Dr. Gandhi serves as the education director of the HIV/AIDS Division, is core faculty in the global health sciences master's program, and serves as program director for the UCSF Building Interdisciplinary Research Careers in Women's Health (BIRCWH) K12 scholarship.

Dr. Gandhi earned her medical degree from Harvard Medical School and her master's degree in public health from the University of California, Berkeley School of Public Health. She completed her residency (in internal medicine), post-doctoral research fellowship and infectious diseases fellowship at the University of California, San Francisco.
