Thailand is an amazing country, and Bangkok, its capital, is an uber-urban city. Pulsating with life, Bangkok is very much a modern city -- yet in some places, some temples, you feel like it is centuries ago, while other parts have a sort of Wild West capitalism with people doing all manner of work for extraordinarily low pay.

The four women pictured above performed at the opening ceremony. In this photo, they are doing the wai, which is the traditional Thai greeting.
