This was posted in one of the hallways of the conference center. It is from The Hands Project, the brainchild of the Life Home Project, an organization that works with HIV-infected women and their children in Phuket, Thailand. The project's aim is to demonstrate to the world that people affected by HIV are more than just statistics. The handprint was selected for this project as an expression of individuality: Because stigma and injustice prevent a person from showing his or her face, one Life Home Project representative said, the handprint and its associated signature can serve to represent that person's unique character.
