El panorama se vislumbra en el horizonte como uno positivo. Nuevos medicamentos tales como inhibidores de proteasa (BMS 236), Tipranavir, DMP 961 se esperan para el próximo 1½ año. Inhibidores de fusión T-20, T-1249 en combinación con terapia activa también para el próximo año y medio. Bloqueadores de receptores CCR5 todavía estan en fases bien preliminares.
