James Leon Bergeron IIIJanuary 31, 1958 - March 22, 1992Registrar - Laura SiegelEmail - Laursiegel@aol.com Memorial: Our sweet heart James passed from this world on March 22 from AIDS complications. His mother, Gay and friends Ted, Laura, Sophie and Vickie were at his side. He passed peacefully. We bathed him in herbal scented water (Sophie added Cardommon from his spice collection) and wrapped him in his white silk meditation shawl. James - the memorial to you reflected your life. Your parents and friends gathered at Mt. Tam on a ridge that overlooked San Francisco and the Pacific Ocean. Charlie lit incence and candles. Flowers were placed in a circle around your I Ching book. Charlie played the flute. Friends read from your favorite books of poetry and spiritual wisdom. Photographs showed you celebrating Gay Pride Day, dancing in a loin cloth at the California Men's Gathering, and swimming in a clear pool. Your dad acknowledged what a wonderful son you were. He and your mom placed your ashes in the center. They took some ashes to bring home. Ted said your ashes felt like seashells. Christine said you were the best looking guy she ever met. Other's spoke of your friendship. Some spoke with tears and silence. We carried your ashes to the edge of the mountain. The wind was blowing with great gusto. Ted placed your ashes in the blue and white vase we used to bathe you. We each held your ashes in our hands and scattered them into the wind. We tossed flowers down the grassy slope. A hawk swooped close overhead. A shadow of light seemed to roll over the mountain. It was a day like your life, filled with passion and serenity. This passage from the I Ching was underlined in your book. "We must simply go to our way in dignity, and depend on the power of truth to gently penetrate through." We, your support group, love you James. All of us (Wally, Vickie, Bill, Ted, Fred, Laura, Ann, Lisa, Debbie Toby, Christine, William, Kate, Mark, Cris, Carl, Jason, Donna), your mom, dad, your sisters Beth, Nancy, Cindy and all your friends and family feel blessed to have been a part of your life. Cathy & Dustin, the children of your heart, will be the recipient of your gifts. Your light and joyful spirit will always be with us.
