John-This doctor needs to be reported for her actions. I asked my hiv doc about disclosure to other medical providers I may see and he said that ALL medical providers should be acting in a way to protect themselves from exposure to many illnesses and pathogens. Most Doctors operate assuming that a patient could have something they can be exposed to. So if your ear doc isn't practicing medicine in this manner then she's irresponsible. The only benefit to disclosing your HIV status to a medical provider is that the provider will assess your health in the context of your HIV. HIV people can be more prone to certain medical conditions that may be overlooked if the provider doesn't know your status. Sounds like this doctor is ignorant. Find a new ear doctor and report her!!!!
