HIV-2
      03/29/00 12:45 PM

Is there anyone out there who has been diagnosed HIV-2 positive? How did you find out? I am puzzled by the fact that the standard HIV testing does not include screening for HIV-2. All that the literature says is that HIV-2 is "rare" in the United States. Well, all it takes is one case to start an epidemic in the unknowing person. My personal interest is that after 2 years of testing for HIV-1 with all negative results, I am bothered by the same old symptoms. To make matters worse, I am pregnant and live in dread that I may be infected with HIV-2. The possible exposure that has me concerned was two years ago. The guy was not West African and to my knowledge had not travelled there or had West African partners. Does anybody have any updated information on Hiv-2 in the USA? Thanks for listening
