169,358 (HIV positive people in Calif.) divided by 586 (the annual mortality rate) results in 289 (the number of year it will take for all the people with AIDS to die).

Two hundred and eighty nine years means that only about 14% of HIV positive peole in California will EVER die of AIDS.

FOURTEEN PERCENT NOT 100%

(After adjusting for the declining mortality rate, accidental deaths, other diseases etc., over a fourty year period, that figures drops to between 6% and 9%).

FOR THE VAST MAJORITY OF PEOPLE AIDS IS NOT A KILLER.
