Funny how, when HIV smacks you right between your eyes, Stigma conveniently kicks your backside! For me, that came with a bonus: a slap on the wrist – for dipping my hand into the life-pleasures-jar. And because we get groggy and high on fear and uncertainty, it feels as if all is over. Yet we now know that in the wake of a new dawn, sites like this one, true friends and family sire the much craved-for hope and relief. Fast forward, I feel like a living cliché, ‘Positively Negative’: am stronger, experienced and more confident than I ever was in my adult life. It is from this mode that I have sought to date again. Meeting persons affiliated to the similar health status has proved a challenge though, owing to disclosure vis-à-vis the spoiler stigma. Besides, the sites are bloated with scammers and pests who leave one feeling even more violated than they were by the Virus in the first place.
I am from Kenya, 40years ‘young’ and a single mom to a grown son. I am spiritual, independent, patient, honest and with a great zeal for life.
