Heart Attack in Long Time Survivors
      02/24/06 03:45 PM

My partner nearly had a heart attack this past August. He didnt because his doctor diagnosed "angina" and sent him to the emergency room, he was admoitted to the hospital. Tests etc indicated a blocked (nearly 99%) artery. He had the "stent" operation where they put a tube into the artery where its blocked.
What the story doesnt tell is WHY he had a blocked artery. He has lipodystrophy, where the liver does not process fats and sugar and etc properly. His cholesterol level was so high at one time it was almost off the chart. NOW, he is on a low chlosterol diet and it has brought his cholesterol level down. He also takes Tricor and Provocol (sp?) to control it.
Moral of the story: see your doctor regularly and be sure to check your cholesterol level.
