what am I too think?
      09/18/10 09:04 AM

I wasn't for sure where to post this. So I am putting it here.

In 2006, I had an exposure (possible) my ex husband who we will call Bob was put into the hospital with Mono, he also had skin cancer. They told him after about a week in that he had HIV-2 that they believe he got while serving his country a couple years earlier in Iraq or Afghanistan (he toured both). They tested me, and my results were negative.

About a week later, he got out we split up not because he was positive but because his mom wouldnt let me NEAR him and he told me he didn't want to sleep with me anymore and that he wanted me to see him (no sex) and sleep with other guys and I said hell no.

I got remarried about 6 months after getting remarried, he called and said he had won a lawsuit against the VA hospital that had diagnosed him in Houston. I didn't even think to ask why, it was the last phone call I ever got from him he was out of prison on probation and violated it some how and got put back in and wont be released until 2020.

Fastforward too December 2009, my husband returns from being overseas will call him George...we go to see a fertility specialist and they call us in Christmas Eve to tell me I am hiv positive and that my husband is HIV negative after 4 and a half years of unprotected sex.

Jan comes my CD4 count is 169, VL is 3,800. they diagnose me with HIV-1. Which leave sme confused in between Bob and George there was no other partners. but Bob has HIV-2. Now on the other hand I have Arhritis, PCOS (Polycystic Ovarian Syndrome) A hosue full of Black Mold and I was fighting a MRSA staph infection at the time. and a progestrene level of .1 (which is a males progestrene level btw or a level postmenepause and I still have periods and am only 27....)

I do have a very monogmous relationship, I do not do drugs, never had blood transfusions. but both the Elisa and WB came back positive twice.

I am deeply confused here. HIV-2, can not turn into HIV-1. I have had no other exposures and my husband because he is military is tested every 3 months.

I had no symptoms when I went in and I think I was condemned because after the first set of test results I opened my mouth about my exposure with Bob. If Bob even had it.

So do I need to go for a second opinion? or conitnue on the ARV's I am on? I feel fine until I take the meds once I take them I am in a wheelchair for the rest of the night, then I wake up feeling fine again.

I will take my ARV's though until its proven that it's not, or if they prove me wrong but I'm really confused over this. BTW< I am a shut in. sometimes not leaving my house for years occasionally I let people in and attend college online so I dont really have contact a lot with the outside worl except through my keyboard and the doctor appointments I go to.

I by no means have any risk factors at all, and I am puzzled over why further testing wasn't done by the leath department to see if it could possible be anything?

aren't HIV test anyways just testing antibodies that can be produced by many things? like my husband coming home shortly before the test after being in sevearl countries is it possible he could have brought a foreign bug home or something that although his body may have adjusted too it, it could have caused my body to act up?
