Army HIV Policies and Procedures as of 7/15/2005
      04/20/06 05:38 AM

Greetings! I have found actual policy information concerning HIV from the Army. You must have Acrobat Reader to view. You may go to the link:

http://www.army.mil/usapa/epubs/pdf/r600_110.pdf

The pdf's title is Army Regulation 600-110 - Identification, Surveillance, & Administration of Personnel Infected with HIV. This link is only being provided as a reference point and should not be taken as absolute. Policies are in constant flux. Please exercise caution and common sense when inquiring about protocol to your CO. You can always remain anoyomous and go to the Office for Civil Rights - HIPAA website at http://www.hhs.gov/ocr/hipaa/ for more information.

I myself have never been in the service but have been poz for 6 years now. I am very interested in public policy and have a very big problem with the way this document outlines "on a need to know basis" throughout with no HIPAA references. :( Below is a short table of contents with page numbers so you can jump to a particular chapter. The pdf is not indexed, just by page numbers.

Chapter 1 - Introduction - p10
Chapter 2 - Testing & Counseling Procedures p15
Chapter 2, Section IV - Reporting and Recording of Information p20
Chapter 3 - Accession Testing Program p29
Chapter 4 - Active Duty Personnel Policies and Procedures p30
Chapter 4, Section III - Administrative Seperation (A Must Read)p35
Chapter 5 - ARNG & USAR Personnel Policies & Procedures p37
Chapter 6 - Family Member & Civilian Policies & Procedures p41
Chapter 7 - Limited Use Policy (Very Important) p45
Chapter 8 - HIV Information & Education Plan p48
Chapter 9 - Law Enforcement & Corrections Policy & Procedures p50

I hope this information is useful to somebody out there. If you need more assistance, feel free to contact me at mmiranda415@hotmail.com

Good luck.
