Okay, as you are an exception to the rule, and I am probably wasting my breath, but I have to reply....yes, you and others can survive 20+ years. Lifestyle DOES have an effect. Modern science has already determined there is probably a gene involved, certain people with HIV don't progress to AIDS. But, this is a small %. Statistically, in this country, approximate 20/100 die of AIDS. (Just check celebrity deaths for the last few years, that alone says something). I have been HIV+ for over 14 years. But I watched my fiance DIE OF AIDS. I watched approx 10 people in the house/facility he was at DIE OF AIDS, I watched him suffer through 5 AIDS related illnesses in 2 years, (treated by countless medical professionals at countless hospitals, not just one doctor) felt his last heartbeat. If I wasn't on HAART, I would have died YEARS ago, medical professionals have confirmed this. Yes, some have died because of toxicity. Diabetes. High cholesterol (me). Liver, kidney problems. But, there are endless combinations of meds, and new ones coming out every year. I congratulate you on your longevity and a positive attitude, but a reality check needs to be done, please!
