Did your doctor ever give you a urinalysis for a urinary tract infection. one time my best friend got a urinary tract infection which he was sure was and std. He went to the dr. and the doc said "well looks like the clap, but let's do a urine test anyway" Sure enough it was a simple unrinary tract enough which clears up in a few days with antibiotics. I know it's not an answer to your pcr question but it might help you realize other possibilities for you symptoms.
