"so i read on a lot of websites that symptoms of HIV include flu-like symptoms, nail changes, rashes, headaches, pneumonia, disorientation, dry cough, night sweats, etc, etc."
"phase 1 = acute symptoms. they last about a week. night sweats, fevers, colds, dry cough, nails change, rashes, insomnia, loss of weight, headaches, swollen lymph nodes, disorientation, irregular menstrual cycles (not applicable to me)... also, is it possible to only get a few of the acute symptoms?"
To begin with you are mixing up symptoms of HIV with ARS. ARS is the name given to the time the body is actually seroconverting. It's an immune response, just like when you get a cold you get 'symptoms' which actually is the body fighting off the cold. ARS is the same thing. The body is mounting an immune defense against a virus....just like it would for any other virus.
"during the asymptomatic phase, none of these symptoms appear as an acute phase.. but is it possible for them to appear individually?"
"phase 2 = asymptomatic phase, where there are no symptoms associated with the acute phase. so does that mean you won't get any of the acute symptoms as a group? or go through the acute phase again? can you get the acute symptoms individually over and over again (as if they are chronic, like i asked in my first question?)"
Asymptomatic means 'without symptoms' so how do you propose that any symptom could appear together, individually, acutely or chronically?
Bottom line. Symptoms are a notoriously bad way to try to determine your status. Some people have severe symptoms during ARS, others don't notice a thing. These symptoms are non-specific so there isn't a single one, or group that can indicate infection. It seems to me that the sole purpose of discussing symptoms is to kill time. Which I'm not willing to be a party to after a short period of time.
I hate to tell you, but you just will have to wait and exercise patience. Sometimes in life that's all you can do.
