Long enough time to test?
      10/14/01 12:36 PM

Many people who are worried about HIV exposure may not know the exact date they put themselves at risk. Luckily, I do know my potential exposure date (July 15). Knowing the window period is 6 months according to the CDC, if I test this week, how accurate will my result be?

I also have been hearing that many doctors have said that 3 months is enough. If this is true, IF I get a negative result, does that mean I am done testing?
In talking to some people, they have said that the CDC is very conservative and they are one of the few organizations left that still say 6 months is the norm. Most say that 3 months is more than enough time and that a negative result at 3 months is as conclusive as you are going to get.

I would appreciate all your replies.
