12 weeks is because most of the places testing, are basing the fact people are (in most cases) not going to have just one risky encounter per year. If people test as they request, certainly the people at HIGH RISK for infection, would most likely be testing 4 times a year. Now having people test 4 times a year, HIGH RISK groups, is a much better policy than say every 6 months, or every year. Odds are, these extra test, will limit the number of people the they may expose. Testing guideline for non-traditional groups has been suggested every year, not every 3 months or 6 months. I'm not suggesting testing 10 to 15 years, but what I'm saying is to continue to test if you have reason to believe you were exposed, symptoms. The 6 month test is 99.99% accurate because almost if not 99% of the people test were never exposed. The CDC is a GOVERNMENT AGENCY. There testing recommendations are typical government BS.
