Starting treatment
      08/06/04 09:40 PM

I just tested positive (within 2 months) from a previous negative test result and I have 97 T-cells and a viral load of over 100,000. I also have Lupus and have been taking for a year now the steroid drug prednisone (20mg/day) to suppress an overactive immune system. My doctor has prescribed the combination of sustiva/emtriva/viread (one pill/day) to get my immune system up. A friend (who has had HIV for 20 years and seen many anecdotes)says I should also add a protease inhibitor like crixovin or it will be a waste of time. My doctor disagrees. Meanwhile, I don't know where to search and go for answers, but know that I want the most optimal outcome. Please, if anyone has information it would greatly be appreciated.
