Pregnant and HIV positive: Need support
      03/07/02 06:49 PM

I am a 32 year old woman. I found out that I was HIV positive in 1996. I had a 2 year old son and an eight month old at the time. I am pregnant now. I have NEVER taken any medication and I have never had a detectable viral load. I do not know any other woman with the virus who have been pregnant, and I am not in favor of taking medication during this pregnancy or delivery,or for the baby for 6 weeks after birth. I just want someone to talk to that has been in this situation. There are so many reports on woman who agreed to take the medication, and not one that I have seen for undetectable woman who have NOT taken meds during this time. I know that the chances of avoiding infection are increased with meds, however, I am at such a low risk now, and so is my unborn child, that an increase of 2% hardly seems worth it. Anyway,if there is anyone out there that can relate to my situation, please feel free to email me at
Thank you for your time!
