Despair
      03/11/13 09:20 AM

Hello,

I am in complete despair. I came once on this forum to report some symptoms I experienced despite a potential risk I took almost three years ago. It was protected sex with a female Brazilian escort-girl (I didn't check precisely the condom), and unprotected oral sex. I got tested twice: the first time, seven weeks after the episode (negative, Abbott Architect); the second time, more than one year after the risk (negative, Vidas). It was fourth-generation tests, which are the rule in France.

Despite these negative tests, I suffered from many symptoms which are often related to HIV. During these three years, I have been rarely sick (one or two pharyngitis per year). However, I had many skin problems, the main one is seborrheic dermatitis (which appears almost two years after the episode). It is often described as a symptom of early HIV infection. I had cracks in the corners of the mouth during winter (it went away on its own). I had acne on chest and back (diagnosis by a specialist: acne, nothing to worry about), that comes and goes away without special reason. I thought I had swollen lymph nodes on the neck (diagnosis: not lymph nodes, but I still feel something!). In addition, I have difficulties to wake up (fatigue), but no fatigue during the day.

And recently, my fears reappears because I had chickenpox, which I didn't get during more than 20 years! It healed normally, but just after, currently, I have developed cold sores in the mouth.

All of these signs are described on the Internet as symptoms of HIV. Therefore, I am terrified and I don't know what to do. I fear to make another HIV test; I am convinced it will be positive.

I don't trust both of the tests I got -- it was certainly false negatives. Indeed, my partner was Brazilian; she probably carried a rare subtype, like F, of HIV. It is perhaps the reason explaining these false negatives.

Then, I don't know what to do, what to think. All these symptoms cannot be a coincidence! Will I die soon from AIDS?

Please help me.

Thanks.
